Q: I am considering upgrading to KEDIT for Windows. How compatible is it with KEDIT 5.0?
A: In general, KEDIT for Windows is a superset of KEDIT 5.0. Most existing commands and features are still there, often with enhancements. Many of the limits in KEDIT 5.0 DOS, such as the size of the largest files that can be edited or sorted, have also been raised. Most users have had no problems with the transition to KEDIT for Windows.
By default, KEDIT for Windows uses Windows-style keyboard conventions, but you can use the Options Interface menu item to switch to a KEDIT 5.0-compatible keyboard layout.
Most existing KEXX macros from KEDIT 5.0 will run without change in KEDIT for Windows. The Upgrade Guide describes the few differences, mainly involving changes to the screen layout and window organization.
